Don’t Hesitate, Exercise Your Faith

Exodus 14 recounts the story of Moses and the Israelites escaping the encroaching Egyptians. Look at the faith of Moses! God did not tell him ahead of time that the Egyptians would pursue the Israelites into the wilderness, then, God would move the Angel of God and the pillar cloud between the Israelites and the Egyptians. God did not tell Moses ahead of time that when the time came and their enemy was ready to overtake them that Moses would raise his staff and sweep his hand across the water of the Red Sea so that it would part, allowing the Israelites safely through.

Moses knew that God would see them through. When the Israelites complained to Moses that they would have been better left as slaves to the Egyptians rather than die in the wilderness, Moses replied, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

Only at that point, when Moses turned to his Father in Heaven did the Lord say to Moses, “Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”

What’s God telling you to do? It may feel bold; you may see the “Red Sea” before you. He may not give you a detailed plan ahead of time, but if you are following Him, hearing Him in faith and acting on faith, He can part your Red Sea, leading you safely to the other side.

Have the faith of Moses . . . trust God to take care of you and rescue you from any earthly trouble or challenge that you have.
