The Lord is My Strength

Exodus 15: 2 says:

The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.

When I think of a song, I think of my heart being uplifted, being drawn closer to God. God is my strength. In any situation, He is the victor, He has already fought the battle for me . . . He is my source. God is my salvation not only in the eternal sense, but in everyday life. When I have a consulting deadline, who comes to help me? It is God with His holy peace.

Recently I learned about crying out to God from a message that one of the elders at my church taught. The notion is to cry out to Him in our desperation, to say God! Help! And it is interesting that when I have done that, I have received an immediate answer.

Turn to God for strength. He is waiting to answer your cry.

Focus on Where You Want to Go

Recently, a friend of mine who is afraid of heights had an experience with God as he was driving up Pike’s Peak in Colorado. As the road climbs the mountain, there are many places where the terrain drops sharply beyond the shoulder of the road. My friend said he started to get more and more nervous so he started to pray. God replied, “Focus on where you want to go, not where you don’t want to go.”

My friend noted that this is really a life lesson. In our walk with Christ if there are issues we struggle with, it can be easy to focus on what we don’t want to do, rather than looking to Him and focusing on where He wants us to go.

If there’s something you are struggling with, look up, focus on getting closer to God, ask Him to help you focus in the right direction. He wants to give you victory!

“Breathe”

The song by Michael W. Smith starts: “This is the air I breathe…your holy presence living in me.” Think of that! What power we have available to us to live our daily lives. His presence can be living in us, if we will let Him live in us. How might our perspective on life change if we are calling on Him to live in us.

Later in the song he says, “I’m desperate for You…” How much better every day is when we are desperate for Him. When our eyes are focused on Heaven and its treasures, on our dear loving heavenly father, the troubles and challenges of earth seem insignificant.

Get desperate for God, for knowing Him more intimately, for hearing exactly what He wants you to do today. He has so many wonderful experiences, challenges and blessings waiting for us when we seek Him with our heart, mind and soul. He’s waiting for your heart to reach out to Him!

What Does God Say?

I have noticed that some people who are seeking God’s direction, will continue to discuss their musings about God’s purpose with multiple friends. Often my question is, “What did God say?”

Many respond by saying they didn’t ask Him and or they can’t hear Him. So how do we listen and really hear from God anyway? It takes silence and sitting before Him. Seeking to know Him on a deeper level. I believe hearing God’s voice takes practice. Personally, I know when He speaks because I feel peace inside when He tells me something.

Knowing the character of God helps too, because He won’t speak out of character, nor speak against His holy Word, the Bible.

If you are having difficulty hearing God, I suggest two things: get quiet before Him, and, find one person who can be a spiritual mentor for you. This spiritual mentor needs to be in tune with God too, and needs to be more spiritually mature than you are. This is a person who you can pray with to receive direction from God, or who you can tell what you hear God telling you and weigh it with them for confirmation.

Seek Him with all your heart, soul and mind. He’s waiting to speak to you!
