Stepping Out in Faith

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 says:

Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord— for we walk by faith, not by sight— we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord.”

Yet how many of us walk by faith, not by sight? I was at a Christian Women’s luncheon today and we were talking about topics for an upcoming Bible study. One person mentioned that she wants to know what the Bible says about change.

So I was thinking about why change is hard for people. I believe it is the fear of the unknown. If something changes in my job, how will I know what to do? If something changes in my personal life, how will I deal with it? Yet if God is our caretaker and guidance, won’t He guide us through the change? If He loves us as His precious own, won’t He take us by the hand and take us through the change, whether stormy or calm?

Next time you see change coming, hold on to the Lord. Ask Him to walk with you through the situation. He will be delighted that you asked for His guidance.

How Big is Your God?

How will you let God work through you in 2012? What will you do to embrace Him, to be His hands and feet on the earth? He has a special calling just for you. Do you know what it is?

Make a commitment today to seek Him on a deeper level, to stop being busy with life or church stuff and to sit in His presence. Think of the amazing things He can do through you when you are tuned in to His purpose for you.

What will He ask you to do today? How will He use you? It’s not up to you to tell God what to do, to make His plan. It’s up to you to carry out His plan as He directs.

“For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
